The Vibration Perception Threshold (VPT) refers to the voltage value (Volt) corresponding to the minimum vibration stimulus that can be clearly perceived by the human body. It evaluates the conduction information of proprioceptive pathways caused by skin vibration stimulation, and vibration sensation reflects the condition of myelinated A α and A β large sensory fiber neural pathways.
Vibration sensation threshold (VPT) is an important method for quantitative sensory measurement (QST). It provides a quick, economical and accurate early screening method for diabetes peripheral neuropathy (DPN), and can find high-risk people with serious complications such as diabetes foot as soon as possible.
